Seeb Corniche improvements

Muttrah Investments are currently working with Simplex Infrastructures on Seeb corniche. Simplex are building 6 bridges over the wadi deltas which cross the old corniche road and discharge into the sea.
Following cyclone Gonu and the damage it inflicted, the bridges have been designed with rock protection, around the bridge columns, wave protection rock from the sea, and scour protection on the wadi banks.
Muttrah are carrying out this work, which consists of cutting the existing land to the correct profile, de watering, laying geotextile, and placing the rock protection.
The rock is supplied by Muttrah from approved quarries, one of them being our sister company Sohar Stones LLC. The rocks range from 50Kg to 5 tonnes and transport to the site is also arranged by Muttrah.
This contract was of great help to Simplex as they had no experience in rock fixing, and they could concentrate on building the bridges, their field of expertise.
The consultant is very happy with the work standard and the health and safety & environmental performance of Muttrah staff. This is critical as the corniche is a densely populated area and any problems would be very noticable.
